SkiFest '06
Went away for the weekend up to Windham, NY. Shana's dad owns the most amazing house. Drove up right after work on friday night. Spent all day saturday skiing with friends on, the conditions were pretty fair. Lightly snowing most of the day which left for a decent scraping of powder on the trails.
It's been so long since I've skiied regularly that I always need an hour warm up before i'm ready to hit the blacks. Sat night was really great... we all got together and threw this gourmet feast for ourselves... Skiing was basically our excuse to just eat a ridiculous amount of food. Hung out by the fireplace ... ate fresh baked cookies. Felt good to get away from new york even if it was just two days.
Snowball FIGHT!
Gotta love blizzards in NYC. They shut down schools, they shut down subways, but you still have to go to work.
One quick txt message to fellow slopers around the hood brings out a little gang of frisbee players to our usual field. In a new york minute we're hurling snowballs at each other over mini forts we've built into trenches. We're kidnapping POWs (myself being one of them, flung over Greg's head and carried by my legs to the other side).
Gotta love snowball fights.
Had a really good birthday party night- despite the hate for the age, I had a really great time last saturday. Even with a blizzard going full blast friends showed up at all hours to wish me happiness and dance all night.
The actual birthday itself was uneventful. Came down with a nasty cough (that i'm still suffering through today). Only a few coworkers really acknowledged my birthday (not sure if i should attribute that to the fact that i'm still the new girl or they really don't give a shit).
V-day - what a horrible "holiday". Went to the Daily Show with Jesse - no better way to spend the day than watching Jon Stewart berate himself and seeing Michael Moore chilling in the audience. Went home to a pot of homemade soup ...mmm...
rants - plenty. but not worth spending a day writing about it when i can go out and enjoy it instead
