Washington really was a great President

Brad Neely is a genius.

Saw his short during the Brooklyn Underground Film Festival and it was probably one of the funniest and most original I've seen.

On an even lighter note - summer is here, thank god I can't stand paying for things I can get for free. Let's begin the free concerts, parties, movies, and food!

Virgin Islands

7 days in the US Virgin Islands... and one Monday back to work to wipe it all out!

We split out time pretty evenly between St. John and St. Thomas. It was a pretty good mix between camping and getting that "luxery" vacation feel to it.

Went "Camping" at Maho Bay ... it was absolutely great! The tents are wooden platformed tents, more like small studios' with your own terrance and they provide everything but the food for you. We got lucky since it was off season - they gave us a really good tent with a view overlooking small Maho Bay.

Day 1 - exploring the campsite and lounged around Big Majo
Day 2 - attempted to snorkel at Waterlemon Cay - failed. My fear of drowning pretty much overcame my curiosity to see turtles and coral
Day 3 - set sail on the Pepper with some experienced sailers and another couple. This time armed with a floatie i successfully snorkeled around and saw so many beautiful things.
Day 4 - switched islands! Unfortunately transportation is so expensive - spent almost $50 trying to get the two of us door to door. But oh the sweet coldness of air conditioning...felt so good to not have to spray myself down in bug spray that night.
Day 5 - another day of Snorkeling!!! I have to admit I am hooked. Walked over to Coki Beach from our hotel. It was so crowded - far cry from what I was already used to on St John...so peaceful and not tourist-like at all.
Day 6 - On a colleague's recommendation made the trip to Magen's bay - beautiful heartshaped beach. It was protected by two long inlets of land that stretched out into the ocean and another small island right outside the cove to keep the waters calm.

Big Pluses: Maho camping - the cupboards and shared food. 20 paces to the beach. Cooking our own food. Playing Chinese poker. Falling asleep to waves crashing ashore. Waking up to waves crashing ashore. Waking up next to Jesse. Getting to watch Lost! Wandering around in sandals. Coming home.

Big Minuses - St Thomas and all of it's Tourist-ness. Expensive cab rides. Crowded beaches. Expensive food. Mosquitoes!!!

I'd go back in a heartbeat
